Antoine Bouvet Les Monts de la Vallée 2016

Inflorescence Asia

Quite golden yellow in colour with aromas of red berries, yellow citrus, Granny Smith apple skins, ripe pears and oxidative tones. Similar on the palate, quite citrusy, tasted a little "old" for a very young 100% Pinot Noir Champagne disgorged on 30 September 2020. Med to med+ acid with a medium finish. It was delicious anyway given how quickly the bottle was drained but some friends couldn't help but feel that the tension wasn't quite there (especially for something so young), and that the wine got a little flat rather quickly. Bottle variation perhaps? We will report back once we get the chance to taste another one of these in the near future. It should be pretty interesting to do a vertical flight of all the different vintages made in one seating to gain a deeper understanding of what this wine is about eh, J?
